Press Reviews - Bach's Evangelists

Neil Jenkins has been singing Bach's Evangelists for 30 years, and has sung it for some of the greatest choral conductors of our time: Sir David Willcocks, Sir Charles Groves, Paul Steinitz, Sir Roger Norrington, Andrew Parrott and Richard Hickox, to name but a few. For many years he has been associated with the annual Bach Choir performances at the Royal Festival Hall, and has recorded the Tenor Arias with them for Decca / ASV labels.

"Neil Jenkins is an Evangelist with all the virtues: clear diction, smooth and pleasant tone across his whole compass, and ready to exercise the right measure of discretion towards expressing the narrative through dynamics, colour, phrasing and timing."
Daily Telegraph

"I enjoyed Neil Jenkins' exceptionally clear, poised, unaffected Evangelist."
Daily Telegraph

"The narrative was told in silvery tones and committed accents by Neil Jenkins, a vivid Evangelist, who articulated the German text idiomatically and, when needed, forcefully."
Daily Telegraph

"Neil Jenkins sang the Evangelist with the forthright tone, good diction, and variety of pace this long narrative part requires."
Financial Times

"Through it all, the impeccably controlled Evangelist of Neil Jenkins directed the course of events with precision and force - a strong unifying factor."
Financial Times

"...Jenkins' splendid contribution paced the flow of events with mastery..."
The Independent 12/3/96
